Question

WebLink installation

asked on August 8, 2017 Show version history

Hi,

One of our customer have procured a WebLink license recently and are exploring different installation options.

They already have a DMZ server which is being used for Forms Portal with anonymous access and it also supports app access through a reverse proxy.

Can we install the WebLink software on the same DMZ server either directly or by using reverse proxy? If yes, is it recommended? or should we get a different server because it may be potentially more secure?

If reverse proxy is used, do you recommend installing LF WebLink in an internal server which already has Forms, Web Access and APP services installed.

I have been reading up in the below support site but do not find anything regarding reusing existing LF servers. Any advice or suggestion is much appreciated.

Thanks,

Adarsh

The general recommendation would be to put WebLink in the DMZ.  As for sharing machines, in general it's fine as long as there are enough hardware resources to support it.  You might argue that separating the applications onto different machines would be more secure, but you'd want to weigh that against the increased costs.  Does the customer have a policy about this?
