Question

hash algorithm verification

asked on August 2, 2017 Show version history

We have a customer who has requested more information regarding their records currently being stored in Laserfiche.  Since this is a local government entity, a requirement of the governing office from the State where the customer resides has the following stipulation:

  • Records are periodically verified through hash algorithms. This is required before and after transfer to new media to ensure the records were not altered.

Can someone validate whether this requirement is fulfilled natively by Laserfiche?  If not, what does the system need in order to fulfill the requirement?

Hi Nathan,

You can use volume checksums to fulfill this requirement. They will check against files being modified behind the Server's back and indicate that when a record is opened. You can also run a report on the volume to check for any failed checks. More information can be found in the documentation at: https://www.laserfiche.com/support/webhelp/Laserfiche/10/en-US/administration/#../Subsystems/LFAdmin/Content/Volume_Checksums.htm
