Can't assign new field to Form entry template in workflow

asked on August 1, 2017

We have a Laserfiche Form that uses a service task to kickoff a workflow.  The template and fields are assigned in form and I have verified that field data exists in workflow - it works find.

I want to add an additional field to the current assigned template using the "Assign Field Value" tool in Workflow.  I want to map the field data from the form to this new field added to the template.  For some reason it doesn't add the field to the existing template - nothing appears in the metadata panel.  There is an error in workflow "No entry Specified".  The only choice I have under the tool is starting entry.  I do have the workflow attributes checked as a Starting Entry.

Not sure what is wrong - help?  Thx

If Forms starts this workflow, then there is no starting entry. You either need to starting from the repository when Forms saves a document to Laserfiche or you need to add a Find Entry to Workflow to get the document that Forms saved.

If I don't have Forms kickoff the workflow I can't Retrieve Business Process Variables - Right?

You can. You would need to save the instance ID and submission ID as fields on the document that Forms creates in the repository.

Once the workflow starts, you can read those 2 values from the fields and use them to tell Retrieve Business Process Variables which Forms instance to read from.

Ok.  Can you provide a screen shot on the forms side how to save those fields?  Appreciate the help!  John

In your forms process in the Save to Laserfiche task, you should see a section for Fields at the bottom:

When you click it, you can pick any fields you want and then use the Submission ID and Instance ID variables:
