Question

Question

Is it possible to put a "time stamp" on a form when it's received.

asked on July 28, 2017

I know it's simple to put a time stamp on the form once it's submitted, but it is possible to put a time stamp on the form when it's opened/ received by another party.

For example one employee gets the form and fills out their section. Once they hit submit it's time stamped, and when the next employee gets the form it's stamped when they receive it and stamped again when he/ she sends it out. This way we know how long they had the form for.

Thanks!

You would have to have a field that holds that for all possible steps and run a workflow that populates them.  There is a built in detail list however that holds that information on the right hand side of the form.  Should show when the task was assigned and when it was completed.

I don't think a workflow would be necessary.

You could create a "Time Stamp" field for each person involved in the process

Next, create a separate version of the form for each step with the only difference being which Time Stamp field is included.

Then, you just set it to use "Current Date/Time" and each time a user submits a form you will get their time stamp.

You could either name the fields according to the step, or you could also include a "User" field and set them up in pairs.

For Example,

  1. Starting Form - include User1 and TimeStamp1
  2. Review Form 1 - include User2 and TimeStamp2
  3. Review Form 2 - include User3 and TimeStamp3
  4. Final Form - include all User and Time Stamp Fields
