Question

Forms report not downloading properly

asked on July 25, 2017

I am generating a report from forms reports and when I try to open the excel file it generates I get the message below:  Excel cannot open the file because the file format or the file extension is not valid.  Verify that the file has not been corrupted and that the file extension matches the format of the file.

I have tried downloading the report filtered, not filtered, with and without choices details, XLSX and CSV, Downloaded immediately or sent by link, and get the same result from every combination.  When I open the csv file in a text editor the file is blank.

Are you using an old copy of Excel?  Can you change the file extension to .xls instead of .xlsx and open it?

I am using Office professional 2013, and I have changed the extension from xlsx to xls.  When I do that it does open the file, but it is blank with no data.

Can you send a few screenshots of how you set the report up?

We are using 10.2.1

Try upgrading to Forms 10.2.1 update 1. There is a known issue in Forms 10.2.1 where a race condition was causing this error to happen. Bug reference #31723

It has a mixture of single line text fields, multi line, dates with the options and all their combinations below.

Was there ever a resolution for this? I have a client with this exact issue now...

I was having the same issue and was able to get the report to download by changing the "Sort instances by" field on the "Detailed Data Set" tab on the reports editing page.

Can anyone frpom Laserfiche confirm if this issue is identified?

We are having the exact same issue intermittantly. Our version is 10.2.0.834.

The file is 0kb (empty).

There was a bug found in 10.2.0 and 10.2.1 that was causing this behavior to happen. It was fixed in 10.2.1 Update 1, and in the latest 10.3.1 and 10.4 releases.
