Fill Out PDF Activity

asked on July 20, 2017 Show version history

Good afternoon,

I have set up a Workflow that uses the Fill Out PDF Activity. I'm able to run the process and the PDF gets filled. However, to see the data filled I have to click on the PDF boxes. If at that point I add something, like even a space, then the data shows.

Screenshot 1: The pdf reproduced is opened without me touching it

Screenshot 2: The pdf reproduced is open with me clicking on the box

Screenshot 3: The pdf reproduced is open with me adding something to the box and clicking away from it.

If I click into the box it shows what I expect to see, but if I click away without doing anything to it, the content inside the box disappears again. Is the the expected behavior?

Thank you,

Raul Gonzalez

In your Fill Out PDF Form activity, go to the Advanced section (the little gear icon next to the Activity name) and check the "Align Field Data" box. That's resolved this same issue for me in the past.

In a related question; we noticed that the pdf opens fine, but when it's transferred from my computer. However, when viewed using the Desktop Client --> Image it does not show anything. Any ideas on that? See screenshots below.

Form input is a separate layer in the PDF, so extracting images and text will not burn it into the image. You need to Snapshot the document instead.

Is this something that can be done with an Activity in Workflow? And if yes, what activity would I have to explore?

No, Workflow does not have any printing capabilities.

Thanks Miruna, as you can see; I'm kind of a newbie with all this. You definitely answered my questions and sent me into the right direction.

Thanks again.
