Can you start a Workflow BP using a URL?

We are wanting to put a link inside of a 3rd party application that a user could click on when viewing an employees data and have it kick off a Workflow business process possibly using a URL. Is that possible or is it only possible to start a Workflow BP from the LF or WF clients?

It doesn't look like you can do it with just a URL and passing a parameters through a query string though. Is that correct?
