Dragging Emails into the Client

asked on July 18, 2017 Show version history

When dragging Emails into Laserfiche, from Outlook the Laserfiche Client crashes, however when trying to import the emails using the Laserfiche ribbon there is no crashes and emails go in without a problem.

This is using the latest version of Laserfiche.

Has anyone found a solution for this yet?

I actually just faced this issue with one of our users. They usually drag emails into the client and suddenly yesterday could no longer do that. The user could use the laserfiche ribbon to save emails into the client and could drag documents from the desktop into the client without issues, but when they attempted to drag emails from outlook or from the desktop into the client it would crash. I ran a repair on Office which didn't resolve the issue. I also uninstalled and reinstalled office which did not resolve the issue.

From the start menu I selected settings>apps>default apps under email it listed Outlook 2016 as the default. I selected that and when I was prompted to choose an app I selected outlook 2016 again. Once that was done I was then able to drag emails from outlook into the client without it crashing.

We are also having the same issue with most of the users at our site.  We've tried installing the latest Laserfiche patch and that doesn't fix the problem.  As other's have said if the user chooses the "send to Laserfiche" from the plug-in toolbar it doesn't crash, but when an e-mail is just dragged in it will crash 90% of the time.  Since nothing has changed with the Laserfiche software on the workstation we assume it is a Windows update or Office update that has caused this problem.  We hope that Laserfiche determines the culprit and either issues a patch or issues a fix.

I don't know if this helps but we were having an issue with emails using the web client in Google Chrome as well and it was because Laserfiche Web Access Extension was not enabled.  Once it was enabled we could drag and drop with no issues.

We are using Outlook 2016, and the desktop client. We did not have this problem with Outlook 2010, and have recently upgraded to 2016.

The user was on Client 9.2, and we attempted to upgrade to 10.1, and the issue is still there.

We also have this issue.  Is there any resolution?

Using the Laserfiche add-in in the ribbon bar works.

Even i have had a client facing the same issue. As of now, suggested using Laserfiche ribbon to move directly to the open folder. Is this a known issue?

Outlook 2016 , Laserfiche 10.2.1

We are unable to reproduce the crash internally. Initial investigation shows that it it might be a bug in Outlook.

We are now seeing this at 3 of our customer sites, is there any official confirmation that the problem exists with Outlook.

Is there any plan for this to be fixed?

Have you opened a support case so we can troubleshoot this issue? Our developer is unable to reproduce.
