Download Instance Image Feature Request

asked on July 14, 2017

Fairly certain that this is not a current feature. Or something that is easily done, but would love to be capable of downloading an image of a completed instance.  Have run into several administrative situations where a save to repository fails, or a volume reference gets lost ,or a process completes without routing properly.  Even just situations where users have management access to the Forms process but not the repository and need a copy of something.  Well, currently screen capturing the from and manually rebuilding it can become incredibly tedious.

Being able to look at instances see the form and download or even print the form image that its displays would be extremely helpful.  Maybe I'm wrong but haven found

This is and isn't possible. You are able to go into the instance details and click on a user task in the list and see the form that was submitted at that task. You are able to right click on the form at that point and print from the browser. The print job is horrible though and I highly recommend NOT doing it. It would be nice if on the page when you open the form for the user task from the instance details if in the top right corner there were 2 additional options of Print and Download.

By only adding it when accessing it from the instance details you make sure that other users are not going to be printing and downloading the forms, only administrators.

Always so helpful Blake.  But, yeah, regretfully a lot of the forms I have are multi page and wont show up in the browser print.  Some times Chrome can better recognize web parts but no real luck their either.  And, as you stated, browser printing is absolutely awful any way you can make it work.  Seems like such an easy feature request.  Heck, their rendering it for us right there!

We had a pretty significate outage with our file server hardware and had to recover from a backup.  Luckily forms had records of everything in the interim, but in order to get images, we had to make them ourselves with screen shots from the completed instances.   I've had a few strange cases where users had overwritten images accidentally that could not be recovered.  Had to turn to the completed instances, but again stuck with screen shots.  I suppose the ability to rerun a completed Save to Repository action from forms would also do the trick.

You could add a custom button using a Custom HTML field on the form that calls the print function and that is usually better than the browser printing because it doesn't include the outer part of the webpage. Not sure if that would be better or not.
