Save to Repository - Strange Behavior

asked on July 10, 2017 Show version history

We have Ver. 10 Forms in our test system. Getting strange behaviors. Just wonder if this is typical. We converted many Forms business processes. I am having issues with Save to Repository. I open it to edit it, and it's fine:

I save my process and go back in to edit the same Save to LF and get:

Anyone else experience this strange behavior? I can do F5 to refresh, but that's time consuming for these big processes I have. Oh, and I have also had to create all my "File_Upload" metadata since going from Ver. 9.2 to 10.2.

@████████, I'm so glad you mentioned what you did! It solved my issues! I took a very complex process (has at least 6 Save to Repository tasks) and changed them all to "Save a form with current process data". Not only did I NOT lose the file upload tab but I was able to jump from each of those tasks and never had an issue. Every time I opened the a Save to Repository task, my file upload tab was there and I was able to make changes, save, and open another. It's the "deprecated" one that is broken and reeking havoc! Just so you know, it's the "deprecated" option that disappears and never comes back. I'm OK with that! (Refer to https://answers.laserfiche.com/questions/89547/Save-Data-From-Last-Submission-Deprecated#89548.)

Now I have work to do ... I'm going to change all of my Save to Repository tasks. Thank you!

Hi Gloria,

Unfortunately, I do not have anything useful to contribute, but I can confirm that I've also noticed this when working with attachments in Forms--sometimes the "File_Upload" tab is missing, but I haven't noticed a pattern.

You need to have a File Upload field on your form for that tab to appear.

Definitely--we're observing this behavior when a File Upload field is present on the form. I just tried reproducing this error according to the steps in Gloria's original post, but was unable. However, I ran into this error a few weeks ago but was too busy to report it on Answers.

I do have a file upload on my form. That's why when I press F5, it suddenly appears, as I wish it to. Never had this problem in Ver. 9.2. BTW, I'm reporting to my VAR as well.

Gloria, is it (seemingly) random when the File_Upload tab appears? Or does it not show up initially until you refresh, then shows up consistantly?

It shows up initially. I get out and either go to the same Save to LF or another Save to LF task within the same process and it has disappeared. When I refresh, it reappears, but again, I get out and either go to the same or another Save to LF and it disappears. I have to save the process and refresh each time I want to edit a Save to LF task.

It disappears on me intermittently as well.  If I click in the box saying 'drag files here' it will sometimes open the file selection window for me, but not all the time.

Ok thanks everyone for information. We've filed a bug report for investigation into this issue. The bug number is 34446 for reference

After a few days of investigation, we can't reproduce this internally. If possible, could you open up a support case and share your process so we can see if we can reproduce the issue?

The issue that file upload tab doesn't always appear on STR task right pane has been fixed in Forms 10.3.1 release, and you can download newest package at https://support.laserfiche.com/news/3882/laserfiche-10-3-1-released.

Just ran across this problem as well; and we won't be upgrading to 10.3.1 anytime soon. Is there a workaround? Or once you save, you can't go back?

Thanks,

Julie

The ONLY workaround I have found is ... every time you make a change to a Save to Repository task, save the process and refresh. We haven't upgraded to 10.3 yet ... hope to do so soon to see if this issue has actually been resolved.

Thanks. I guess we have a form that switched over to missing the tab for the file upload variable and has decided not to come back :-0

Gloria, when you say you "refresh", what exactly are you doing?

My advice to you is to keep that (Deprecated) option selected on the Save area (i.e., never choose any other option and save). Once you save an option other than (Deprecated), then that (Deprecated) option disappears altogether. I believe that is when you will permanently lose the file upload tab.

When I "refresh", I click the IE refresh:

Reread your email: All my saves are set to "deprecated":

I'm going to try the other two just for giggles once my test system is back up and running later today. Will let you know if the same thing happens to me!

Happy to help ;-)! Interestingly, my forms process was pretty old and seemed somewhat hosed as I could not even create a report on the instances. So today I just simply copied the forms process; and the new copy seems to work fine (including file upload and instance reporting). Go figure. It's almost as if by simply copying it, I got rid of the old mysterious baggage :-0.
