FEATURE REQUEST: Are you sure you want to close LF Client? popup for office documents

asked on July 6, 2017

Hi Team,

I know we have a popup that is available when closing client and having PDF Files open as below:

There is not one when closing the client and having office documents open though. The files are still connected to Laserfiche via the plugin, and once closed they are saved as a new version etc.

I would like to know if it is possible to have the pop up available when the user has office documents opened as well as PDF Files?

Thoughts?

Thank you

Ziad

Thanks

There is no need for the popup for office documents because the LF office plugin has its own connection and closing the client shouldn't cause any problems.

Hi Robert,

There was a scenario where user 1 closed the client with an Excel document opened, where then user 2 was able to open the same file from Laserfiche Client and make changes to it and save it as a newer version.

As user 1 still had the file opened, he was able to of course save as a new version of a document he made minor changes to, resulting in a confusion regarding where the work went from user 2. Only by checking version control they identified it was as such.

Thank you so much though for your feedback Robert,

Regards

Ziad

Hi Robert,

Also, the way we identified this was by using Audit Trail to see when and how the versions were created by the users,

Thank you

I see the problem now. The lock on the document is released when the client is closed, so other users are not blocked from editing it. We will look into getting this fixed for 10.3 (bug#34380).
