Question

Intermittent Connectivity Recovery

asked on July 5, 2017

We have a client that is using Laserfiche in remote locations and their internet connectivity can be spotty at times.  The situation we're running into is if they lose connection while opening up an office document (Word and Excel) it leaves the document locked since Laserfiche thinks it opened correctly.  They can even close the client and it will not release, they need to physical terminate the Laserfiche.OfficeMonitor process in order to free up the doc.  This is not something they want to show their user base and are looking for any type of solution around this.  They're currently having the users just reboot the machine but that's not a viable long term solution.  Is there anything in the Laserfiche realm that could get around this?  Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Hi Brandon,

Which version of office integration are you using? It seems it is a bug in office integration. The connection and the lock should be released when people close the document. Could you please open a support case so that we can identify the issue and give you a fix for the issue?

Well the document is never opened, their internet drops mid-download and no document is opened, which is why they don't simply close the document.  I'll open a case though.

Hey Brandon- Did this ever get resolved.  We are seeing a customer with a similar issue, regarding the lock state.  Thanks- Jeff
