Question

Laserfiche connector to extract data from one web portal and hand over to another

asked on June 29, 2017

My client has a requirement where the user would like to extract data from a web site on to another one.

Currently user receives an email which notify of a new job form submission (not LF forms , a third party web portal). User then manually opens the required web sites (new job form) and then the in house web portal in order to copy/type required field values from new job form.

This becomes a very tedious job when 100's of forms are submitted and then manually coded in.

Is it possible for using Laserfiche connector in this scenario . Any suggestion.advice would really help me in planning/executing.

I have successfully tested it on writing to a web application from another. Need to execute the same on clients applications. Only concern is that , will the behavior remain same or is there any further configuration to be done if both the application has to be logged in using separate login credentials. Currently i use launch application and write data on to it.

Hi Bipin,

What is concern about both the applications has to be logged in using separate login credentials?

Hi Huazhen,

While testing initially with forms as the application on to which i was trying to write the data to, i was unable to do it. A pop up regarding permission had come up. Hence, i was expetcting to configure login credentials inorder to do have appropriate right to complete the data movement, but couldnt find any..

Having said that, when i tried it with another 3rd party application , it worked fine.

I see. Laserfiche Connector cannot configure sensitive data such as login credentials in a profile now. People needs to input the credential manually and use the session cookie to authenticate website (usually supported).

We'll figure out a solution for this case, so that automates the login process and keeps the credential secure as well. Thank you!

I think the first step is to get the Laserfiche Connector Test Utility, which will allow you to verify that it is able to detect and interact with the relevant fields on each page.

Considering both are web-based, I can't imagine it wouldn't work, and the configuration should be relatively straightforward with the help of the documentation Huazhen provided.
