From Email Address in Forms Service Task

asked on June 9, 2017 Show version history

For one business process, Our customer would like to send an email using the email Service Task from an email address different than the one listed in Formsconfig.  When I set up the email Service Task and specify a valid email address in the "From" field, the email is still sent using the address in Formsconfig.  How can I send from a different address?  What is the From field for in the email Service Task if not to specify a From address for that particular task?

I have a few Forms that use different outgoing email addresses and they do originate from the address entered in the "From" field, so I can confirm that the "From" field in the service task should be functional and overrides the default address setup in FormsConfig.

I would double check that the service task actually saved the email address you entered, and maybe look at what permissions are granted to your Forms service account. Also, try it with a "fake" email because in our environment we can send from any address even if it doesn't actually exist.

My understanding is the Forms Config is the only way to specify a From email address.

You bring up a good point about the "From" field in the email service task.  I think it might just be a way to provide a specific name to appear, although I've never tried this.

Thanks for your response, Wesley.  The "From" field actually doesn't seem to do anything.  It doesn't change the email address nor allow me to specify a name.

What Jason said is correct, I just tested it.

Thanks, Jason and Wesley.  I have already tried with various accounts and it is not updating the From address.  I'm glad to know that it  can work.  We'll look at our settings.
