Question

Downloading - Zip - Electronic File - Error for PDFs

asked on June 7, 2017

Hi all,

Two related issues:

1.

With Laserfiche Web Client 10.2 and 10.2.1, we are unable to download a Zip file (Electronic File Format).

-> Check off multiple PDF files in one folder
-> Click on Download Icon
-> Select [ZIP] and [Electronic File]
-> Error message pops up

2.
When attempting to print or download a PDF from web client, the file prints or downloads in a weird text format.

Hi Stephanie,

2. Are you given any options when you download on Web Client?

You may be given the choice to download the document's Image, Text or Electronic file. If you select Electronic file, you should be able to download as original.

Hope it helps.

Hi Stephane,

It works when you select one file to download as an electronic document, but our users want to be able to download multiple documents at once.

The 2nd point is speaking more to the frustrations of our users who want to print directly from Laserfiche.

Hi Stephanie,

It might be because for those PDF, you have the electronic file (original) and document text (generated by Laserfiche), but not the document's image. So when you try to print, it will print the document's text.

For example, if I select such PDF file and click print from the Web Client:

It will automatically suggest to print the document's text:

However, if you generate document's page, it will print the document's image instead:

After generating pages and clicking print from the Web Client:

To automatically generate pages for pdf, within Web Client's Options > New Document, you may select:

We are having this problem as well.  I have yet to consistently be able to print an imaged document, such as pdf, directly from Laserfiche using the Web Client.  Although I have the Windows Client on my desktop (I am the Records Manager), we are only pushing out the Web Client to our organization, so this is a must for me to figure out.  I tried clicking the "Generate Pages when importing PDFs" option mentioned above, but this did not work... however, my second issue is that the Web Client will not consistently pull pdfs up in a print screen at all.  Sometime it works the first time, sometimes it doesn't work at all... and when it doesn't work, I get this:

I am stumped!  Any help would be appreciated.
