Question

Populate attachment count based on Attachments saved in an email?

asked on June 6, 2017

Hi Guys,

Was wondering if this is something we can have Workflow do?

Scenario:

Client has, since migration and to date about 100,000+ .msg files saved in Laserfiche.

We would like to know if it is possible for us to create a Workflow that can find within each .msg file the attachments in it and populate a field such as Attachment Count within the template?

Is this possible?

Thank you

Ziad

Hi Miruna,

Just an update, we were able to create a SDK with some additional references 'MsgReader' that needed to be added in the Workflow Library for this to work.

Basically, the SDK reads the email using the reference added, and provides a list of all the attachments and their counts, creates tokens and use that to update metadata fields as required,

Thanks for pointing us to the right direction,

Ziad

You might have better luck posting your message to one of the Office forums. Workflow does not have anything built-in to process .msg files, but you could probably script something through an Office API.

Thank you Miruna,

I will check this option and test. If I can get this to work, i will post my findings here,

Thanks again
