Question

Using a master form in Quick Fields

asked on June 5, 2017

From the Help files it states that a PDF cannot be used to define a Master Form for use in Forms Identification to assign a document class.

My question:  Can a PDF be scanned, saved as a TIF, and then used as a Master Form to evaluate other incoming PDFs?

Yes, that will work as long as you also have Quick Fields set to generate images for the PDFs that you're scanning, because then it will be able to perform Form Identification by comparing the generated TIF image to your TIF master form.

Tessa, glad this is possible.  I will try it out and let you know how it works.

Will generating the pages for the PDFs make this a space hogging option?

Tessa, Is Forms Identification an add-on or a process?  I'm not finding it in my version of QF (10.0.0.976) as an option in Pre-Classification processing, First Page or Page Processing.

If you weren't previously generating pages then this would make your documents take up more space in the Laserfiche repository. You could avoid this by having Quick Fields delete the image pages before storing to Laserfiche.

Yes, the Form Identification process is purchased as an add-on.

Tessa,  I just found that my subscription environment has the Forms Identification option.  So I'm going to try this out there!
