Question

backing up Laserfiche

asked on June 1, 2017 Show version history

Does Laserfiche require a file level restore?  Do I have to restore the entire data or just the files that are missing?  My volume has rolling databases if that helps?

Thank you for your time,

Jennifer

Jennifer,

If you only lost image files on the disk and your database is completely intact, then you should be able to just restore the missing volume files/folders as long as you put them back in the original location. Is that what you were asking?

The concern with restoring a volume without also restoring the database (or vice versa) is that the two will be in inconsistent states.  See this answer.  In your case it sounds like you are talking about not restoring the whole volume, but just bringing back some individual files, so I think you'll avoid those problems.  The worst thing you might run into is putting back a file that isn't supposed to be there (it was deleted or migrated), but I don't see how that would harm the system.
