Question

Workflow not moving the folder(s) based on a wait condition

asked on May 29, 2017

Hi All,

Was wondering if I can get some assistance in this. Basically, I have configured a workflow that requires monitoring a folder that has subfolders in there. When the user requires a subfolder to be moved to another location, they specify a Template that then routes the folder and edits the files within the folder and moves it to the correct folder.

What seems to happen with my workflow is that when there is one subfolder only during testing, it works perfectly. But, when I put 3-5 folders for testing and I try the same process on the subfolders, it does not want to start. seems as though it is stuck awaiting something to still happen?

Some screenshots below:

Seems something I know am doing is wrong, but just cannot find it.

When I do try to run it straight from Workflow when there are multiple folders in the directory, it just highlights the Wait for entry change process.

Thank you in advance,

Ziad

This works as designed. Workflow pauses on the first entry waiting for the condition to be satisfied. Once that happens, it will process the next entry.

Hi Miruna,

What would be the best way doing this then if the folder contains over 1000 folders and we are only wanting the folder with the Template assigned to it to move?

Like mentioned if there is only 1 folder in there, it works fine. But, when we have multiple folders, it just does not action the Workflow?

Thanks

Ziad

It's not very clear to me what is supposed to move and what is getting edited. If you want to just move a folder when its template changes, then that would also move its children. Why do you need a For Each Entry loop?

Thank you Miruna, that was it! I removed the "For Each Entry" and that seems to have fixed the issue I had at hand where it was not moving the folder if there were more than 1 folder in there.

Thanks again

Ziad
