Question

format field start to end date

asked on May 25, 2017

How do I format a template field to read MM/dd/yyyy - MM/dd/YYYY? When I create a custom date format and enter the expression the result shows me what I want:

But when I go to the field in Laserfiche it allows only the first date. How do I format the field to read like the "example"?

Apologies if I'm missing the point but would you not have two different fields, one for start date and one for end date and apply formatting to each?

Also dates by default are formatted by the windows date format the user is using.

Apologies accepted. The point is can it be done? The example seems to suggest that it can, however the result in the template does not seem to support that suggestion.

If I cannot get it to do what I want then yes, I will create two different fields one for start and one for end.

Hi there, I gave it a test and it seemed to work fine(ish) on my end. I couldn't manually put it in my document metadata (due to there being a max input) but if it's allowed to do it's thing automatically it put the date in correct.

Does this example look correct to what you're trying to achieve? I think we might be out of luck for inputting manually as a date field as it doesn't seem to accept the extra characters while typing in. I could be wrong but I think if you're wanting to type the dates in manually you'll have to use another data type, multiple values formatted in this way or two different date fields.
