Question

Quickfields unidentified documents keep their metadata

asked on May 23, 2017

I'm finding some answers to this question but not exactly what I'm looking for.

Currently I run files that are in the repository through QF. These files are invoices that have the department they are associated with already applied as metadata. The issue is that if QF cant identify them, the unidentified documents lose their Metadata. This then causes the lost of what department they came from. Does anyone have a solution for this? Thanks.

Do you have your Unidentified Document Settings set to assign a template?  And do you have the field configuration set to use value from scan source?  If yes to both of these, can you just make a document class for unidentified.  Make a new document class at the end of your list so it is the last one run.  That way if it can't identify it as any other class, it should follow suit and keep the metadata.

I do have it set to assign a template, the same template it has when going into QF. I have the session move the files to a processed folder and currently those docs do not retain the field that I want. So if I make a doc class at the end, what do you do for FPI to get it to use that class?

I guess I would try setting up an actual document class for unidentified then.  If you don't put any first page identification in, then any document that does not fit the other class will fall into this class.  You should be able to keep the metadata this way.
