I would really like to see the ability to set basic attributes at the group level.  That way when a new staff member came in you could just assign them to the group and there starting attributes are set.  Also it would allow for a quicker change for basic attribute group changes.

I asked about this same thing at Empower this year, but it seems unlikely. After discussing it with a Laserfiche engineer, it seems like the biggest challenge (and it is a big one) is that users can belong to multiple groups, which creates a huge potential for conflict.

I would absolutely love to have this kind of functionality as well, but given the challenges it might not be practical using the existing repository groups. Maybe, it could work if they created "attribute groups" that existed separately, and did not allow multiple group memberships?

Exactly, the main complication is how to combine attributes that a user inherits from multiple groups.

There are some attributes that by their nature don't conflict - things like lists of saved searches - that we are currently looking at to see if we can have them attached to groups.  We don't have plans to expand it beyond that.
