Question

The configuration page can only be accessed locally

asked on May 19, 2017

In our current set up we have mobile installed on a web server and there are about 9 other sites running. With this being said I cannot go to localhost/mobile/configuration.aspx to configure mobile and when I try from another computer I get "The configuration page can only be accessed locally."

Basically I want to know if there is any other way to access the configuration page remotely?

Hello Eddie,

1) does simply going to "localhost" work?

2) what error are you returned with when going to localhost/mobile/configuration.aspx?

localhost, 127.0.0.1, and the local IP don't work. I get an access denied page when I go to mobile/configuration.aspx

I assume this is something that can happen when its a web server with multiple sites so the default website is actually nothing. I was just wondering if there was like a config file I could edit or something.

To access mobile server configuration page remotely, you can enable the option "Allow remote access to members of a specific Windows group" under Security section on the Configuration page, specify the Windows group you want to allow access to the page.

I don't think he can get there to make that change...and either can we. We are currently having the exact same issue.

Hello John,

1) as a test, on the mobile server, what happens when you go to just "localhost". Do not include /mobile/configuration.aspx

2) You said you "can't get there". Do you receive an error? does it just hang? What kind of response are you receiving when you try to access localhost/mobile/configuration.aspx

3) Have you checked the event logs to see if anything is returned?

4) Running 9 sites on the machine, have you noted any performance issues on the machine?
