Just to share this information, after spending 2 days in troubleshooting.

Using Quickfields 8 with Laserfiche Capture Engine (LFCE), if the Laserfiche user which retrieves the documents from the Repository has no "Bypass Filter Expressions" attribute, the session stuck on "waiting for pages" forever.

This happens even if there is no filter expressions applied on the Repository.

Probably this is solved in QF versions 9 and 10, but I didn't have time to verify it.
