Question

Import Agent Indexing Metadata

asked on May 11, 2017

We've outsourced scanning in the past and used Import Agent to get the documents into Laserfiche.  We would receive a drive with tif images and their associated lst files and that works fine.  We are currently taking bids on another project and the sample files they sent consist of tif images and a text document that contains the associated metadata.   Example:  The tif image is named DOE JOHN.tif.  The text document opens in notepad and contains the metadata (where the pipes indicate empty fields in the template):  |||||||DOE|JOHN||||||DOE JOE.tif

When I run Import Agent like I normally would, the text document is imported as a document with no image.  The tifs are imported but, of course, don't contain metadata.  How do I get the metadata from within the document associated with the image to which it corresponds?  I haven't upgraded IA so we're still on 8.1.1.

Thank you.

Hi Shannon,

A small application can be written to extract metadata from text document and generate a lst files with tif document and the extracted metadata. The lst file can be imported by import agent as normal.
