Question

Search Pane for Web Access 10.1

asked on May 11, 2017

Can anyone tell me if I am not seeing something?  Did the search pane get taken away in Web Access 10.1.  I have customer that do 200+ searches a day and are used to having the search pane open to do their searches.  Now they have to go into Advanced and pull up saved searches each time.  Prior to our upgrade to 10.1 they could have the pane open and just change the document number they are looking for.  Now the have the added steps of opening Advanced and choosing a saved search before they can change the document number field.  Seems small but it adds time to their day when they do that many searches.

Is there a way to keep the search open and still let them move around different folders?

Thanks.

Hi Jennifer,

If all that changes is the document number, this could be set up as a custom quick search, so that the customer doesn't even need to go into advanced search. In this case, they could just use the search box at the top of the main page with the new quick search selected. https://www.laserfiche.com/support/webhelp/Laserfiche/10/en-us/userguide/default.htm#../Subsystems/client_wa/Content/Search/Quick_Search.htm has more information on that. Also, once a search is run, the search query displays in the left pane, allowing the customer to modify the search query without re-entering advanced.

Thanks.  I set up a custom quick search for her and that seems to work well enough for her.  Do you know what user attribute the custom quick search is.  I would like to be able to copy those searches into other profiles without putting them in the everyone group.

Glad that works for them!

The attribute should be [Search]CustomQuickSearchXML.

Thanks.  Turns out for some reason the custom quick search I built disappeared so there was no attribute.  Once I got the search back in I was able to find the one you mentioned.
