Question

Getting DocumentID from quickfields - post processing?

asked on May 10, 2017

Hi All

We are working on a new integration and experimenting with a few ideas.  We are wanting to use quick fields to process scans in the typical way, however after the scans are sent to LF we want to update an external database with the documentID of the scans as they are inserting.  Is the docID/entryID available as a token in quickfields for use in post processing tasks or workflows.

Question...

- is the docid/ or entryID for a LF file available to quick fields after it saves to LF repo?

Basic thinking.

process files, set metadata, then after the file is saved to the repo do a DB update sending the docID or entry ID back to a related DB to store a link to the file saved

For newly scanned documents, Quick Fields doesn't know what the document ID is because the documents aren't given a document ID until they are sent into the Laserfiche repository (at which point they have left Quick Fields).

I would use Workflow to do this. In the document class options, you can set Quick Fields to trigger a workflow on each document after storing it.
