Question

Custom quick search without searchterm

asked on May 10, 2017

Is there a way to launch a custom quick search (v10) that doesn't require a SearchTerm or token to be entered in Web Client? (without having to enter dummy data in the search field)

And, if not, can I submit this as an enhancement request? :)

Use Case: (we're currently on v9.1) we have departments that run searches on a regular basis where all the search criteria is already set and do not require a token or SearchTerm. Some use it like a "working queue" of sorts, while other searches are more like pulling reports.

Thank you!

Hi Sarah,

Thank you for the use case! We always love to here how customers use our products, as it helps us design better features to meet your needs.

In Web Client 10, it is possible to create a custom quick search without the %(SearchTerm) token. You will get a warning at the time you save the search, but we allow you to click 'OK' and proceed.

Currently, in order to run such a search, you will need to type some input into the search bar to enable the search button. If you only select your hardcoded custom quick search, this input will not affect your search results. Note that you can also create a Saved Search in the Advanced Search dialog. However, this will require a few more clicks from your user.

It seems like what you is the ability to quickly choose and run a search that is common in your work processes and will never change. I'll take your use case back to the team, and we'll work on trying to find the best solution for it.

Yes, this is how we've found to make it work as well, it's just a little clunkier than how we're using version 9.

We really appreciate you taking it back to the team for us, Ryan. Thank you!
