Feature Request: Check for Unnamed Variables in Forms Process Validation

asked on May 8, 2017

It would be very helpful if users were informed what variables, if any, are unnamed when they click the "Validate" button above the Process Diagram canvas in Forms. The error code associated with unnamed variables in a form is ambiguous, and processes cannot be ran when this is this case, so the process should not be considered valid.

Is the error in this post is the error code you refer to for unnamed variable? The validation in the process diagram is for validating the steps definition in the diagram. it is not proper to validate the variables.  Will it better to auto generate a name for such variable when load the variables list of the process?  The root cause of why it generated blank name has been figured out and the issue has be fixed in 10.2.1.

Hi Xiuhong,

It's been a while since I've seen the error (I learned my lesson the first time smiley), but it appears to be the same error.

I think auto-generating names for unnamed variables is a perfectly acceptable solution and it sounds like you guys squashed whatever bug was preventing this from happening for certain variables.

Thanks!

Rob
