Add Email Metadata After Outlook Import

asked on May 5, 2017

Is there a relatively easy way to update the Email metadata (Received, Sender, Recipients, etc.) after an Outlook email has been imported into the Laserfiche repository?  A user dragged and dropped over 2000 emails into Laserfiche without first setting the New Document>Outlook>Field Associations.  Assigning the Email template to the files isn't a problem, but is there a way to get the information into the metadata fields?

In Tools\Options, there is a place to set defaults for this:

Hi Connie,

I'm not sure if you know the answer to this, but if this setting is selected but the email is filed in a folder where there is an assigned template: which template will the email be assigned?

I'm not sure, but I'm thinking that if you have a Workflow watching a specific folder that will specifically add a template, that workflow will over-write whatever you have set for importing emails.

Rather than a workflow, I'm thinking of the option of inheriting the parent folder's template available in the tools menu:

Ah, I haven't used that feature.

Thanks, Connie.  We set the template and the default options for the user and future imports should be good to go, but we are trying to figure out how to populate the metadata for the emails that were imported in to Laserfiche before the defaults were set.
