Full text search with special characters returns an error

asked on May 1, 2017

Hello Everyone,

One of my clients has almost all of their documents OCR'ed with almost no metadata on the documents. This means that they are relying on Text search to find documents. When they search with a / or - character, they get an error.

Is there a way to search for those characters in a text search or are we just out of luck on those ones? Thanks.

The minus sign is a wildcard sign.

To search for the term in-car, you can try searching with the double quotes "in-car".

I believe that the special characters (non alpha-numeric) are treated as white (space) characters by the Full Text Search Engine.  I would just replace all special characters with spaces in your searching.

Instead of "in-car audio\video"

Try "in car audio video"
