I hope I can explain this. My goal is to have a PDF document reside in FolderA with templateA. I would like to create a shortcut or some way to reference the original document from a FolderB and assign templateB.

What options do I have to do this ? Do I have to create a complete and separate copy in order to have 2 different templates ?

You could create a separate copy in Folder B and use a Laserfiche Link to connect them to one another. You could even create a custom link that indicates they are duplicates.
