Question

Can you use CSS or Java Script to make web based forms look like mobile forms?

asked on April 18, 2017

Hello,

I have a user on Forms 10.1.0.619 and they are wanting to know if you can set up a web based form (a form you open on a computer) to look more like a form opened on a mobile device.

The reason behind this is that they don't like how the fields in a row are all bunched together and kind of unappealing to the eye.

They noticed that on the mobile version,  all the fields are scrolled through and above each other making it look a bit more seamless and aesthetic.

I have provided a screenshot comparison of what they are referring to.

Please let me know if this is something that can be done!

Set your browser agent to mobile and access it that way.

You could also produce a similar effect with a field collection that mimics the fields in the table.

Erik,

How would you go about setting your browser agent to mobile?

Are you able to provide an example of a field collection that mimics fields in a table for me to reference?

Thanks!

https://www.howtogeek.com/113439/how-to-change-your-browsers-user-agent-without-installing-any-extensions/  explains how in chrome, all major browsers support it.  Basically you're instructing the browser to lie to the web server, "I'm an iphone!"

This is a mockup of a field collection using your column names:

The form supports responsive layout by default with the "optimize form layout on mobile devices" checked on Forms Settings and it will take effect only when the browser window width is <=768px.
