No entry found in Metadata screen

I have a screenshot from a user who only saw the message "No Entry Found" when selecting a shortcut and trying to view the metadata. I have tried to re-produce this but can't figure out how.

It seems impossible to select a shortcut for no entry, if you delete the entry, then the shortcuts are deleted. If I have workflow delete the shortcut while I have it selected in the client it remains fully functional until I leave the folder.

It might be a security scenario. I could see a possibility of this happening if the user lacked the read entry access right on the source document but did have the browse entry access right on the shortcut itself.

He was able to work with the metadata, it was after he clicked Save that he saw this message come up.

The only thing I could think of was maybe because workflow deleted the shortcut, but I found in testing that when workflow deletes shortcuts it does not remove them or the metadata from the user's view until after they have left the folder, after that the shortcut is no longer accessible at all.

All of his changes were saved.
