Forms has a Report creator in it that would allow you to view all the submissions for any current stage, date, though it would not let you view only ones with X meta data.

You could build a Workflow to search for all documents created that day with X meta and it can email you the total found.  You could also create a custom search that just requires you to input the date and it will pull all doc with X meta data.
