Question

Applications that Require a Named User

asked on April 6, 2017

There has always been some confusion about which applications require you to use a named user account during configuration or use of the application.  I am wondering if there is a list of LF products that require a named user account and which ones don't?  Here are my thoughts or findings:

Forms - Yes, you need a Named user account in the FormConfig and for the Save to Repository Activity.

QF/QF Agent - Yes, who ever is using QF needs to be a Named user and you need a named user license when scheduling session to run through the Agent.

Import Agent - Yes.  You need a Named user license when configuring import profiles.

Connector - Yes, the user that launches connector must be a LF named user.

WF - No, you do not need a named user account for Workflow connection profiles.

Please feel free to correct me if I have stated anything above incorrectly.

If you look at the very last note found at the following link, it states that "the user used by Workflow 8.0.1 or later, Import Agent 8.1 or later, and Quick Fields Agent to connect to the Laserfiche Server do not require named user licenses. Audit Trail will also not use a named user license when retrieving audit data."
