Question

What security rights does a user need to apply a watermark when printing?

asked on April 4, 2017

I have a user who has all user rights and full control of a folder and when she tries to print a watermark it doesn't appear.  I also noticed that she only had the Watermark option when I gave her the Apply Optional watermark right.  If I login as an admin user I can print it and I noticed I have an additional option she doesn't.  Also tried creating a watermark on the group but it still doesn't print on the document.

Please advise.

Thanks

Sandy

If you are talking about group or tag watermarks, they should always be printed - they are auditing features and so no security is relevant for them. So if a group or tag watermark applies to the user or document, then a) Optional watermarks can't be selected and b) the group or tag watermarks will always get printed. Optional watermarks require the 'Apply Optional Watermark' feature right, as you've noted.

Justin - until I gave this user the right "Apply Optional Watermark" - she did not see the Watermark option when she printed.

Now she sees it but when she she doesn't see the Do Not Copy option - like I do signed in as a different user.  I created a Scanned watermark and assigned to the group - that is the only watermark she sees and even though she choose it - it doesn't print.

It seems like this user account is missing something but I can't figure out what.  The group she is a part of has all feature rights and full control of the folder.

Thanks

Sandy

Why would watermark not be available?

Hi Sandy,

The option showing up under Print should only be controlled by the Optional Watermark feature right. I wonder if there's more going on here - it might be worth checking with Support on this one.
