Question

Web Access Quick Search bar seems to be broken in 10.2

asked on April 1, 2017

When performing a quick search with All Fields selected, the search returns no results. If it is performed a second time from the now-open search sidebar, results are returned.

I was able to reproduce this in two different environments. It used to be fine in 10.1.

Can someone from Laserfiche please confirm? This is a very commonly used feature for our clients, and I'm fully expecting complaints to start rolling in on Monday morning.

In the web client, go to Options > Search, uncheck the "Show only top 40 results..." box and save the changes. Then try the "All Fields" quick search again.

When the web client has this option enabled, the "All Fields" quick search will only search for fields that are indexed, so that could be why it's not returning results.

Alexander,

That worked for me. Is there a way to roll out that change to everyone? I had a look at the WebAccess attributes for the user, in the Admin console but didn't see anything that looked familiar.

Alex, the change of the setting for "show only top 40 results" can this be set globally or does this have to be set by user?

Set it on the Everyone group to make it repository-wide.

Robert, Glad to know this can be done globally!  But, I'm still new to playing with attributes, can you be a little more specific regarding where I would set this on the Everyone group?  Thanks!

From the Management page, go to the Everyone group and add a new attribute:

Hi Robert,

And as the previous custom, will I have to delete everyone's setting in order for the Everyone attributes to be copied accross? Or add it to the users when they have logged off?

With the fat client, I noticed that it grabs a copy of the attributes into the local registry. Then when the client closes, the registry is copied back to the server. This means that any changes made through the Admin console, whilst the user is logged in, are lost when the user logs out. How does this work with Web Access?

Hi Ege,

I've noticed the same issue. Have you opened a case yet? I've not.
