Question

Where on the roadmap is SAML integration?

asked on March 28, 2017 Show version history

We have an opportunity we are responding to that requires integration with another application for authentication. They want public, non-domain users already logged in to that application to be passed through for authentication to Laserfiche. The authentication credentials for these users only exist in the application, not in AD or elsewhere.

I understand that SAML is on the roadmap, but was curious how soon it will be released.

Also, is LoginModule still a valid way to code such an integration to Weblink or Web Access today?

I need to bump this thread because the answer is relevant to an active opportunity. Basically we're trying to make it so that when a user logs in to a court product, we can use that same authentication token when they hit a Laserfiche product.

If at all possible, it'd be really great to have this work with Weblink.

As to Garth's question, Enterprise customers are asking if Laserfiche Supports SAML.

The answers can be No, we simply need an answer that we can relay to a customer.

If, by chance, the answers is that Yes, please provide some details regarding what is supported.

If SAML support is coming on the product roadmap, then is there a sense of what version will support this in the future such as Laserfiche 11 or to be released in 2019.

Please respond

We do have plans to implement SAML support for Rio customers through  Directory Server single-sign on. We currently already support AD FS, as of version 10.2, so if your customer has AD on the backend, that may work for them.

Our initial SAML support is targeted for the next major release of Directory Server, and we will update the roadmap accordingly.

Since SAML is a very broad protocol that is not always strictly followed, we cannot guarantee the first release will meet the needs of every customer, but we will be testing with several leading vendors, such as Shibboleth.

If you have specific use cases, we would be glad to hear them and investigate if we can incorporate them into this release or future updates to the feature.

Are there any plans to release SAML support for authentication in Avante systems or will this be a RIO only feature?

The upcoming release requires use of Directory Server SSO, which currently requires Rio.

Hello,  I have a current higher ed opportunity that requires  LDAP authentication using Shibboleth via InCommon federation.  Is this supported yet?

Thanks.

As noted on the roadmap, Directory Server 10.3 is targeted for Q1 of this year. It has not yet been released, but the target is still within this first quarter.

Hey guys,

Google is doing very well in the Education spcae and the conversation about SSO with google as the identity provider using SAML is becoming a very hot topic.
