Photodocs slow to open on Windows 10 Pro

asked on March 28, 2017 Show version history

A Laserfishe user was issued a new Win 10 Pro PC.  This PC is 6th Gen i5 with a decent 7200 rpm hdd and 8GB of Ram.  On her older Win 7 PC Photodocs would pop open in just a second or two.  On the Win 10 Pro PC she is seeing a 6+ minute delay before the Template window pops up.  A PDF is read in.  We see the pages being read in (at a reasonable rate). Once the document is read in, that is when we see the six plus minute delay. After the delay the template pops up, and she can continue normally.  Both examples given were around 300 page documents.  This size document file was easily processed on a older/slower Win 7 PC.  We are using the same AV software (Kaspersky Managed).  Laserfishe is a fresh install of 10.2 and 10.2 was on the Win 7 PC.

Hi Curtis,

Does this happen to all windows users logged onto the same workstation?

Brand new computer.  New Laserfishe install.  All MS Updates in place.  Only User on this PC.  Domain Profile did not have this problem in Win 7.  Profile migrated seamlessly into Win 10 profile.

I will have current take a file to another Win 10 Pro PC and have that (different) user use Photodocs to import the same example file.

Having a different user login onto the problem workstation would be a good test, will give you a clue if the issue is windows profile related wink

As expected, Second PC with Win 10 Pro, Second User.  Re-test Photodocs.  File seems to read in page by page.  Upon reading the file in there was more than a six minute pause before the template screen popped up.  It is not a user profile issue.  One PC is HP and the second PC is Lenovo.  Both PC are brand new Win 10 Pro.

Something very strange going on there Curtis. Does this happen to all large PDF's or is it isolated to this single one? If you have further problems it looks like you will have to open a support case with Laserfiche through your VAR.
