Can we retrieve a business process variable into workflow? We have a form that gets submitted and upon the last step gets sent to a group of users. Any of these users can then "Assign to me" and finish the process. I would like to retrieve the "assigned to" value once the form process is completed.

You can determine who was assigned and approved a form via the %(Submitter) or %(Submitter Email),etc tokens. There are actually quite a few tokens that relate to the process flow from forms and if there are multiple approvers you step through them using the %(Submission Submitters).

To get these tokens into your workflow you must select the 'View Workflow Properties' and check 'Started by Laserfiche Forms'. ( found from the Green Arrow activity in your workflow ).

Since discovering these tokens we utilize them quite a bit.

I have tried these variables and get a null return. Is there someway that I need to save these variables so that they can be retrieved in workflow. I have also found mention of a retrieve business process variables activity that should be in my toolkit. However, that activity isnt showing up in my toolkit.

Hi Will,

Sometimes it will say 'Retrieve Laserfiche Forms Content' for the activity in the toolbox (I think it has to do with whether you had Designer before version 10 and went through the upgrade), but when you actually drag it over to the canvas it will then say 'Retrieve Business Process Variables'.

Still shows retrieve LF forms content after dragging over and only has variables that are on the actual form. Im looking for the business process variables.

Do you see the Input Parameters tokens in your tokens lists?

Yes. However, no matter which item I choose, they all return null when the workflow runs.

Can you post a screenshot of your activity configuration? Does this workflow start from a service task in Forms after the approval task is finished?
