I have a Laserfiche Cloud customer who is importing PDFs through Import Agent into Laserfiche Cloud. They have selected the option to extract text, and the PDFs have a valid text stream (can search and highlight text in adobe). When I try to open the pages or electronic file in Laserfiche Cloud Web Client, I cannot find any way to see the text stream to check if it was extracted correctly from the PDF. Is there a way to view the text pane in web access?
Question
Question
View text pane in Laserfiche Cloud Web Client?
Answer
You need to uncheck "View PDF" first and then go back into the display options to select "Text"

In the document viewer, click on the "Display Options" button near the upper right corner of the window and select "Text" to show on the screen.
If you just see the "PDF Viewer" then you'll first need to uncheck "View PDF" from the display options before you can choose the view text from those same display options.
Alex,
On this file there is no "Text" option in the dialog box. Does that only appear if the file has pages generated?
In this case we don't want to generate pages for each PDF, just extract and use the native text stream.
You need to uncheck "View PDF" first and then go back into the display options to select "Text"
Thanks Alex!
What happens if this isn't an option? This is what I see:
You are looking a the Folder Browser. If you open up a document you'll see the text pane option.
So text view is no longer available in the preview pane?
Hi Robyn,
It's not currently available in the preview pane, although we are investigating the possibility of showing it in place of images if there are no images to show. Do you have a specific case where it's important to see the text directly in the preview pane? Thanks!
Hi Justin,
Thank you for the response.
For me it would be to ensure that the document has been OCR'd and has legible text. Because the OCR function has greatly improved, when I browse documents and I see that a document's text isn't of high quality, I can re-initiate the "generate searchable text" tool. But I don't want to have to open each record to see if that's the case.
Cheers.
