Question

Decryption

asked on March 13, 2017

I am following up a lead that needs to migrate from their current DMS known (Jupiter) to Laserfiche. When they export the documents from the DMS they are encrypted as a .cmp file. May someone have the knowledge of how to decrypt such a file?

Hi Mark,

Your sample file ("Jupiter.cmp") is a LEADTOOLS CMP image file format. It is not a SharePoint Content Migration Package.

LEADTOOLS CMP is a proprietary image compression format by LEADTOOLS. As such, it is not cryptographically encrypted or obfuscated in any way. To convert or process these images, you will need to purchase a license from LEADTOOLS.

https://www.leadtools.com/sdk/compression/cmp

This can be confirmed by opening the sample file with the LEADTOOLS demonstration image viewer. Below is a screenshot confirming the image file format. https://www.leadtools.com/sdk/display

Our current versions of products are no longer shipped with the LEADTOOLS libraries.

You may need to obtain a license directly from LEADTOOLS if you need to view, process, or convert CMP image files.

Are you sure it's encrypted? .CMP seems to be a SharePoint Content Migration Package: https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/ronalus/2007/10/02/content-migration-package-explorer/

HI Miruna,

I looked around and also came to the same conclusion and also tried out that tool you have mentioned above to no avail. I have attached herein the file. NOte that I have changed the extension from .cmp to .jpeg.
