WebClient 10.2 OCR/Generate Text button

asked on March 6, 2017 Show version history

Can anyone tell me where the OCR/Generate Text button is in the 10.2 Web Client, please?  One of our users wants to OCR after scanning to increase the scan speed.

Check the Box next to your File, click on the "More Actions" button, at the bottom of the drop down, choose "Advanced" and it will appear in the popout to the left. Note: this option only appears if the Generate Searchable Text option is available for the file.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for your response. I have been looking in that area.  I get the option for any Electronic File but I need to Generate Text/OCR for a Laserfiche (tiff) image.  When I select a Laserfiche image, that option is not available.  Might it be hiding elsewhere?

I have seen that as well when the images are in Tiff format.

If you have the DCC (Distributed Cluster Computing) option, I would suggest you set it up to schedule the OCR of the new documents automatically after they are Imported saving you from having to OCR them at time of Input or Generating Searchable Text Manually after the fact.

FYI, there used to also be a requirement to download and install the PDFiFilter and Office IFilter on the Server when importing jobs through WebAccess so it would scrap the SearchableText from the document.
