OCR engine failed

I have a client using Laserfiche Cloud. She has Client 10.2 installed on her desktop and when she loads documents into the repository she receives "notification that  loading the OCR engine failed."

I am not that familiar with the Cloud, should I run a repair on the client, or under additional components should I install Laserfiche OCR...    Other users are setup the same and are not receiving this error. Please advise.  Thanks Wendi

Hi Wendi,

OCR works slightly differently in the Cloud environment. We run the OCR service on our own, automatically, in the infrastructure. I'm guessing based on this notification that the OCR component of the Client suite was not installed? This should not affect whether the documents wind up getting OCRed. (If they're not, please open a case with Support so we can look into it.)

Note though that the Laserfiche Scanning application, whether installed from the desktop Client Suite package or from the download provided through Web Access, does require the OCR engine to be installed as a dependency.

Thank you very much for your reply James.  Just to clarify the OCR process will run on the Cloud Infrastructure whether the client receives the error or not. However to not receive the error I should install the OCR engine. Please let me know if this is correct.  Again thanks for your reply.  Wendi

Hi Wendi, correct: this error message would be returned by the desktop client application, not our OCR service. However, I've been unable to reproduce this error message with only the Client installed (no OCR, Scanning, Admin Console, Office integration, etc). If this is happening for only one user, I might recommend trying to reinstall the client on that workstation in case of a corrupted installation. If this user continues to receive this error, we can try to troubleshoot through a support case. Thanks.

I have a user experiencing the same issue, except we're not on the cloud. When opening the options menu, she gets "Loading the OCR Engine failed" immediately. OmniPage 18.5 is installed. I have removed, re-installed, and repaired both the Laserfiche 10.2.1 install and the OmniPage 18.5 install. Neither makes a difference.

Is there anything else I can do?

Hi Guys I am having the same issue running on 10.2. I still cannot seems to fix this issue. I tried an uninstall and reinstall but still no luck. Please help
