Question

Audit Trail Permissions Multiple Domain Environment

asked on February 28, 2017

It appears that I am not able to add users from multiple domains in Audit Trail Permissions. Is that accurate? I cannot find anywhere that explicitly says this and wanted to be sure I have exhausted all avenues before giving up and creating accounts in just one domain for Audit Trail access.

A support case was opened for this issue. The domains are in different forests and the trust relationship was configured at the forest level, not the domain level.

SCR 155545 has been filed for this issue and it should be addressed in a future Audit Trail release.

The select trustee dialog should have a dropdown list where you can pick the correct domain.  The attached screenshot is from 10.2 but I don't think it's new.  Does the dropdown show up?  Is the domain you want missing?

Yes I can see the drop-down, and the domain I would like is not listed. In fact the primary domain is listed and then the audit trail server name is listed. I have three domains in this environment, and I can only technically see one in that drop-down. How can you control what is listed in the drop-down?

The dropdown is populated by asking AD for all of the domains in the machine's forest.  If there's an error it should show up in the event log on the AT machine.  Is there a trust relationship between the different domains?  There needs to be in order for the reporting site to be able to accept and validate those credentials.

If it all looks ok, you might want to open a support case.

Has this been correct? I'm seeing the same behavior for a client using 10.2.1 installed a few weeks ago.

If you're getting a similar symptom of this issue in Audit Trail 10.2.1, then it should be a different root cause since the issue for the OP has been confirmed to be fixed.

You may want to open a support case providing full details of the matter.

Similar issue following a recent upgrade to 10.3.1.  Only the local server showing up in the domain list which should include a list of 20+ domains from my production system.
