Question

Forms - user is unable to open some task assigned to them

asked on February 23, 2017

I have a user with tasks assigned to them who has not been able to open her tasks. First she can't see her tasks under her tasks view or the available view. But she has been finding them under My History, Involving Me Search. She can then open the instance details and see that they are assigned to her.

In actuality it has been re-assigned but she can't see this until she click Open Task. Then she gets this message.

Her login shows that she is logged into the correct user account.

From my administrative instance monitoring view I can see that the last status of the task was being assigned to her but no details about the re-assignment.

When I re-assign it to her as an administrator it doesn't make any difference. The only option we could find was for me to re-assign it to someone else temporarily and then back to her, then she could click open task and access the task AND it would show in her task view.

Since I can't see who these are getting re-assigned to or how they are getting re-assigned I can't think of any way to help.

What version of Forms are you using?  Is direct approval supported for this task?

There is a known issue that the task can be in lock status  after direct approval when the Forms Routing Service was busy at that time.  We added a lock status in Forms 10.2 so that it will show "This task has been locked because a submission has already occurred but hasn't been processed." when open the task. And the task can be processed when the Forms Routing Service is not busy.

This was in 10.1 and they have not upgraded to 10.2 yet, they don't use direct approval though, just approve from the tasks screen.

I have not heard of another report. It happened a couple times and the only way to fix was to re-assign to someone else and then back. No indication that it was locked.

Did you ever find out what the issue was here? We're experiencing the same problem.

It kept coming back until they upgraded to 10.2.

It had something to do with assigning to a group and using the Available tab. She would then assign it to herself from Available and sometimes it would do this.
