We have a customer that has an external facing forms portal and internal forms server pointing to the same forms database. They have users within the organization that will only access the internal server. And other users in the field that will only access the external server. Both forms servers have authenticated participant licenses allocated to them. The problem is, the list of users with an authenticated participant license is showing up the same on both forms servers. If the license is removed from a user on one forms portal, it strips the license from that same user on the other forms portal. I'm not sure if I'm missing something on the configuration, or if this scenario is not achievable. I.e. having different authenticated participants on separate servers accessing the same forms.

Question
Separate authenticated participants between internal and external forms server

As you are using same database for the internal and external Forms site, so the changes will reflect in both server and the license status for participants are stored in the database.
Ok. This may require a separate post, but in this scenario if the LDAP configuration was redefined for each server to synchronize a different group to each forms server, would that be a work around? For example, if there was an active directory group call external users synced to the external forms server, and one called internal users synced to the internal forms server, and none of the users were in both groups, Would that work?
I did some more testing. When I entered the LDAP configuration to one of the forms server, it automatically showed up in the other forms server. This is as Xiuhong stated. But it appears that as long as the authenticate participant licenses are on either server, and assigned to a user, the user can log into the forms server even though the forms server itself doesn't have any authenticated participant licenses assigned to it. This was the confusing part.
It is expected behavior that the participant can log in the other Forms server though the forms server itself doesn't have any authenticated participant licenses as the status of the license is turned on from the database. But there will be error message "The number of enabled participant users exceeds the number of participant licenses." displayed on the participants tab and the participant login with that Forms server can't fill out any form unless the system administrator fix the license exceed issue.
Thank you for that information. I tested it to see if there was a way I could work around this customer's issue. I couldn't come up with anything. Can you think of a work around? Or do you know if this will be addressed in future releases of forms? Being able to have authenticated participants on different forms servers using the same forms database without having to have redundant licenses. Or is this just a limitation of the process?
Thank you,
Frankie
This is the limitation of the process, if you have two Forms servers use same Forms database, you need to have some participant licenses for both Forms servers which equals to all the participants user that will login both Forms servers.
