Web Access doesn't remember what type of quick search is performed

asked on February 22, 2017 Show version history

One of our clients uses the quick search bar (at the top) exclusively to search for stuff.

They always search using the "all fields" option, but Web Access forgets that and defaults back to "document text" when they log out.

Is there a way to make it remember that? I looked into the user's options but couldn't find anything under the Search category.

10.1.2.286

edit: After some more testing, it seems sporadic. Sometimes WA remembers it, sometimes it defaults to document text.

A support case was opened for this matter.

The Everyone group has the attribute [Search]CustomQuickSearchXml with value <?xml version="1.0" encoding="Unicode"?><QuickSearches></QuickSearches> and this seems to cause the web client to blank out the [Search]SelectedQuickSearches attribute at the user level.

SCR 156271 has been filed for this issue. For now, delete the [Search]CustomQuickSearchXml attribute from the Everyone group.

*Edit* - This issue is fixed in the 10.3 web client.

This setting is saved as a user attribute, [Search]SelectedQuickSearches. For "All fields" the value is 2. For "document text" the value is 1. Are you aware of anything that the user is doing that could be causing the attribute to get changed?

There seems to be a bug then. The attribute you mention seems to get wiped out frequently when the user logs out and back in. I can reproduce this easily. And it happens even if edit it directly on the user's profile.

Alexander is this supposed to be fixed now?  We just upgraded to 10.3 and each time a user closes out it defaults back to search Document Text.  Maybe this is unrelated to this original post since we were not seeing this behavior before we upgraded to 10.3.

Hi Gina. The specific issue that the OP was running into was addressed with the mentioned workaround and fixed in web client 10.3. If you are running into a similar issue in web client 10.3, then I would recommend opening a support case with your Laserfiche reseller as it would probably be a different issue with a similar symptom.

Is there a way to turn off all the quick search options except for a custom search? If I disable all 4 top/default options and leave the quick search selected the search works. When I close and come back, the quick search is selected and the "Document Text" options is selected as well.

1. Can I have all the default options disabled and just default my quick searches for all users?

2. Document Text should NOT be the default, since its the least efficient search option and the least used.
