Question

Is it possible to use a lookup rule based on the document name?

asked on February 21, 2017

Sorry if this has already been asked.  When searching, this question brings up a lot of discussion regarding naming a file and I'm a relatively new user of Laserfiche.  I'm trying to import files into Laserfiche into folders based on their address.  I only need to perform this once on legacy files as I will be capturing this information via forms in the future.

I have 14,000 TIFF image files that are named "UBXUK0ORSO7I_001", for example.  The XUK0ORSO7I portion of the document name is a field in a table that corresponds to a customer address, so anything after "UB" and before "_XXX".  Is it possible to use the document name and extract the values I need to determine the customer address and use workflow to file the document?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Ben

Yes you can do this.  Just setup a Pattern Match activity and use the Document Name as the start.  Do a pattern to only grab the information you need and then pass that pattern to your Query Data activity.
